About This Place

Ken's Artisan Pizza in Portland’s vibrant Hosford-Abernethy neighborhood is a must-visit destination for pizza lovers seeking an exceptional blend of craft, flavor, and atmosphere. Specializing in artisan, wood-fired pizzas, Ken’s brings together the rustic charm of traditional Italian techniques with creative, modern toppings that awaken the palate.

Step inside or settle into the bustling outdoor seating area on a sunny day, and you'll quickly understand why this spot draws such fervent crowds. The dining experience here hums with energy—a lively, warm vibe where friendly staff ensure every guest feels welcomed despite the high demand. The aromas of freshly baked dough, bubbling cheese, and charred edges weave through the air, setting the scene for an unforgettable meal.

Ken’s menu is a celebration of both classic and inspired pizzas. The Margherita Pizza delivers simplicity at its finest: vibrant tomato, creamy mozzarella, and fresh basil on a perfectly blistered crust. For those craving bold flavor combinations, the Pomodoro Royale and Prosciutto Pizza offer rich, savory layers balanced by the wood fire’s signature smoky char. Unique options like the Corn Pizza and Sausage and Onions provide delicious twists that keep patrons excited to return and taste more. Beyond pizza, the appetizers are equally compelling—imagine the tender Baked Calamari or the perfectly roasted Brussel Sprouts that complement every meal with a touch of sophistication.

No artisan pizza experience is complete without the perfect drink to match. Ken’s rotating selection of craft beers and ciders offers locals a curated taste of Portland’s renowned beverage scene. Their cocktail menu shines with classics like the Gin & Tonic, enhanced with rosemary, juniper berry, and subtle cucumber notes, or a smooth, bittersweet Negroni. For those who prefer wine, the local 2021 Sokol Blosser Rosé by the glass is a refreshing choice that pairs delightfully with many pizzas on the menu.

Desserts such as the Blondie Brownie with Ice Cream and the indulgent Affogato provide a sweet finish that lingers, balancing the savory flavors of the meal with creamy, decadent satisfaction.

Don’t just take our word for it—regulars like Mark Hoang rave about Ken’s being “one of my newest favorite pizza places,” praising the friendly staff and delicious pies that make waiting more than worthwhile. Megan Ou highlights the fantastic food and robust drink menu, particularly recommending the Market Salad and strong Manhattan cocktail after a lively evening wait. Andrew Farmer calls Ken’s “definitely a top five pizza place in the United States,” praising the wood-fired crust and unforgettable appetizers like grilled zucchini. The consistent buzz and repeat visits speak volumes: Ken’s Artisan Pizza is much more than just a meal—it’s a community favorite that delivers an authentic, memorable experience every time.

One of my newest favorite pizza places I have ever been to! Got here 45 minutes before opening and there were about 5 parties ahead of me. Shortly after, there were at least 25 groups! I couldn’t believe how popular this place is, but for good reason. The staff are very friendly and the pizza is delicious. It’s hard to pick a favorite but mine was either the Brooklyn or peach pizza. Highly recommend coming here if you are in Portland!

This pizza is well worth the wait. We went there as soon as it opened and were able to get outside setting. Luckily, it was a nice day. Of course, shortly after opening, they were very busy. When they got to us, and delivered our pizzas, they were excellent. I ordered the one with pepporni, and my daughter and her boyfriend ordered their own separate pizzas. I can't remember what they were, (pictures attached) but all were delicious, since we all shared. A disappointment for me was that they didn't have domestic beer, but i managed. The small pizzas are excellent for one hungry person or two light eaters. Excellent place for out of towners like me as well as the locals.

Decided to drop by on a Sunday evening and we waiting about 30 minutes for a table for two. I will say that after getting seated, it did take quite some time for the food to get to our table after ordering. Probably best to actually order some appetizers and drinks to keep you busy until then. Small thing and could be just that specific day but otherwise the food was great and service was attentive. I ordered the Prosciutto Pizza with Burrata added and my sister ordered the NY Pizza with Pepperoni. Both hit the spot and I’m sure other options are just as great, they have plenty to pick from. Inside it’s cozy and definitely a great spot. I would highly recommend stopping by and I’ll be swinging back again in the future.

This place was amazing. Definitely a top five pizza place in the United States, I had five different people tell me to come eat here and it was definitely worth the 30-minute wait for a one person sitting. The grilled zucchini was one of the best appetizer I have ever had. I did not think it could be topped and then I had the pizza, the wood fire gives you that charred thin crust taste and the toppings were fresh especially the marinara sauce. I'm so glad that I took the time to find this place in a little neighborhood and took the wait to eat there. The staff was amazing and kind, and the service was quick once I was able to be seated. If you come to Portland come to Ken's.

Delicious food!!! Great pizza, great appetizers. We showed up to the restaurant at 6:30 on a Friday night, and it was PACKED-people waiting out the door. We ended up waiting around 75 minutes to seat 3 people but the restaurant provides a nice waiting area for guests where you can order drinks. Good beer (IPA: 5/5) and a strong Manhattan (4.5/5). The food? Fantastic. The Market Salad was one of the best salads I ever had (and I'm not a big salad girl!) The cherry tomatoes were super ripe and sweet and the grilled shallots added a lot to the flavor. There is huge variety in the ingredients and it was so yummy. The meatball and calamari starters were super delicious as well. The calamari was doused in tomato sauce with the perfect blend of spice, lemon, and tang. The meatballs were a little salty, but they disappeared quite fast as well. The prosciutto pizza was perfect, I couldn't get a proper picture because we dug in so fast. The waiters were super friendly and the restaurant offered us a 10% veteran discount. However the table we were seated at was under the air conditioning and it did end up dripping quite a bit on us. They tried fixing it by turning off the AC, but overall it wasn't too disruptive to our dinner experience. I would definitely return to this pizza joint, but maybe with a reservation.
